About the Artist
To me, Yoga practice is about re-remembering who I am and re-connecting with my true Self. It is a lifelong journey. My personal Yoga journey began over 13 years ago when my girlfriend and I decided we would try a local Yoga class for ‘fun’. We left the class in fits of laughter as we found ourselves in compromising positions which we just couldn’t take seriously…
Now, after many years of practice and much study of various ‘styles’ of Yoga, Yoga has become much more serious to me. Through my own personal experience, the endless benefits of practicing and ‘living’ Yoga are so obvious to me. And although, at times, I get caught up in ‘life’ and I feel that I have let my Yoga practice ‘slip’, I always come back to it. Yoga is always there – permeating every aspect of my life. What began as a ‘physical exercise’ has become so much more. I know it sounds like a ‘cliché’, but it’s true.
Developing personal daily Yoga practices has always been the most fundamental aspect of my Yoga lifestyle as I believe that the deeper reward of Yoga are experienced only by developing a personal, regular, disciplined home practice. However I have always encountered (especially in the early years) the frustrations that come with trying to practice Yoga exercise (asanas) from a book – endless post-it notes, earmarked pages, trying to turn pages of a book whilst holding a pose! From these frustrations the idea for Art of Yoga Cards was born. Fusing my passion for Yoga, my love of art, and my natural artistic talent, I was inspired to create a Yoga ‘tool’ that was not only practical, but also beautiful. My travels overseas in 2008/09 gave me the inspiration, freedom and space to start my project.
After returning from travels overseas, where I qualified as a Yoga teacher with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, the hard work that went into creating the Art of Yoga Cards has come into fruition. I am now blessed to join one of my Angel Sisters, Lisa, to grow a business that creates beautiful and unique products infused with the spirit of Yoga. From the Art of Yoga Cards, our Art of Yoga Collection has been born… and it is only the beginning….
